This Sunday, 5/8, saw the Spartans taking on the Carlstad Crusaders in their home field premiere. Last season saw the Spartans win over the Crusaders with a final score of 18 – 26. After a scoreless first quarter, the second quarter became a runner’s game, with the Crusaders dominating the ball and the field, leading to a halftime score of 8 – 0 in the Crusaders’ favor.
The Crusaders admit that they had to fight for every point and push for every yard gained on the field—the Spartans are coming on tough and upping their game with every appearance on the field. Although the halftime score held through to the end of the game, every “loss” is a lesson, and as the season progresses, we predict that the Spartans will be taking the rest of the league to school with a few lessons of their own.
